New Feature: Create and Manage Admin-Level Access Roles Within Your Site

All Admins Are Not Always Equal

Companies and teams have members and role players that need varying levels of access to the systems they interact with on a regular basis. Until now, all SourceAudio sites came with one level of Administrator Access: Full access to everything. We're happy to announce the launch of our new "Admin Roles" tool that allows you to create your own admin-level roles, define the tools & settings each role can access, and then apply that role to individual users.

Here's a quick example of the new tool in action: Say you have a sales team that needs access to user stats, creating & managing users, and publishing and tracking playlists but you don't want them to be able to edit or delete music from the site. With this new Admin Roles tool you can hide the upload tool and the ability to edit or remove tracks completely from all salespersons on your site. You never have to worry about someone touching something they shouldn't touch ever again!

Admin-Level Controls

Access to the following tools & features can now be granted or restricted from any admin user on your site:

  • Change Site Settings including Access, Layout, Appearance etc.
  • Edit Home Page/Custom Pages
  • Edit Metadata and Add/Remove Tracks
  • Feature Content/Publish Playlists
  • Manage Other Admin Users
  • Manage Buyers, Syndication, & Requests
  • Manage Licensing (for those with online licensing turned on)
  • Create & Manage Users
  • Send and Embed tracks & Manage Comments

How To Use This New Tool

Setting up new roles and applying them to users is simple. To get started go to Admin Panel > Manage Users > Admin Roles and follow these steps:

1. Click the "Create Admin Role" button and you will see the "Select Role Options" area appear.

2. Name your new admin role. Something simple like "Salesperson" that can be applied to each of your salespeople who, for example, don't need upload access, site setting access, etc. would make sense.

3. Check the box next to each admin tool & feature that you would like to enable for this new role. Save the new admin role at the bottom when you're done making these selections.

4. To apply this new role to a user, go to the Edit Users tab also within the Manage Users section of the Admin Panel. Look up the user you wish to edit, click on their name, scroll down to the "Admin Permissions" drop-down, and select the Admin Role you wish to apply to this user. Click "Save Changes" at the bottom and you're all done!

How It Works

Premiere Networks has partnered with SourceAudio to distribute the "Alpha Music Libraries" to radio, the largest collection of production music libraries ever offered to the radio market. Alpha Music Libraries is a unique, radio-specific search and distribution system on the SourceAudio platform that will offer radio stations access to potentially hundreds of production music libraries, many of which have never been marketed to North American radio before. SourceAudio's cloud-based search and delivery system + Premiere's Affiliate Relations team make selling, deploying, tracking, reporting, collecting, and paying out on radio barter blanket deals easier than ever before.

Participation in the Alpha Music Libraries program is open to all member libraries that are on (or planning to be on) SourceAudio's cloud-based delivery system. Non-exclusive or sub-published libraries are not eligible and not all music is perfect for radio, so inclusion in the program will be determined after your application has been completed & submitted and our partners have had a chance to evaluate your content.

How To Apply for Inclusion in the Program

First, make sure you have an active site on the SourceAudio network. Within your Admin Panel, go to the new section on the left called “Programs & Opportunities”. Inside this new section you will see the “Alpha Music Libraries” program details and highlights. Whenever you’re ready to review the agreement, click the “Apply” button to the right. Review the agreement, click the button to agree to the terms of the agreement, and we’ll be notified of your submitted application. Once your music is reviewed by our partners and is deemed useful for radio-specific purposes, we will notify you of your inclusion in the program. It’s really that simple.

When Does Alpha Music Libraries Officially Launch?

We will be collecting and reviewing applications throughout the month of December. We are simultaneously working with Premiere's excellent marketing and sales teams to finish up all of the materials they'll need to take Alpha Music Libraries to market and begin selling it on January 1, 2014. Powerful music search is a baseline requirement for all of us which is why we're proud of the metadata and SonicSearch technologies that power the SourceAudio platform. Search plays a critical role on both the buy and sell sides of our music licensing and content production businesses. But, there are additional ways we can connect buyers and sellers on our platform that don't rely purely upon search and discovery. We are proud to announce the new Pitch & Request System integrated into ever single SourceAudio site.

Everyone in our space is familiar with sending or receiving music requests which initiates usually a phone or email exchange, a music search, and then a music pitch. SourceAudio's new Pitch & Request System replicates this real-world experience, but we make it faster, easier, and we open up both buyers and sellers to an ocean of new opportunities.

Here's How It Works:

Buyers on the SourceAudio platform - entertainment marketing companies, production companies, ad agencies, and more - have a new landing page that presents them with two simple options: Search or Get Pitched. When "Search" is selected they simply enter their SourceAudio site as usual and begin their search on their own. When "Get Pitched" is selected they are taken to the new Pitch Request form you can see right here:

Music Buyers will describe their music needs in this simple form. The following information will be collected:

  • Request/Project Title
  • Max budget
  • Description of their music needs + musical references like YouTube links if they have any available
  • Documents such as briefs can be uploaded and attached to the request submission as well
  • Buyers can then hand-pick the publishers they wish to receive this request, or they can easily submit it to every single publisher/seller on the network

What Music Sellers Can Expect

When a new music request has been posted it will go out via email to every publisher/seller included by the buyer in the Pitch Request form. Sellers will simply follow the link in the email to visit the Request Detail Page where they can see all of the parameters and needs for the request. Here is what an example Pitch Detail Page looks like:

Responding to requests and pitching tracks couldn't be easier. At the bottom of the Pitch Detail Page is the Music Pitch Form. To respond to this request with your music pitch, simply paste one of the following links from your own SourceAudio site into the form:

  • A single track
  • A playlist
  • An album

Add a short comment at the bottom of the form, click the "Submit My Pitch" button, and you're done. The buyer will instantly receive an email including your music pitch link, your comments, and then of course your contact info should they wish to contact you about your music and their project.

Final Thought

This new Pitch and Request System launch is Phase 1 of 2 for what we have planned. Phase 2, set to launch in November, will include a new Pitch Request Center located at SourceAudio.com. Anyone in need of music - a SourceAudio network or non-member - can fill out a general Pitch Request Form and music publishers/sellers on the platform will have the opportunity to pitch music for these new opportunities as well. It will open up a ton of new opportunities for everyone on the network.

SourceAudio is now proud to offer Live Chat to all sites on the network. Olark, a leader in online Live Chat services, is now tightly integrated into all SourceAudio sites. With this new chat feature you can see when users are on your site and quickly answer their questions, help them with their searches, or even pitch music to them in real-time. Open up new opportunities and create happy clients by having instant, live access to users who are on your site looking for that perfect track or package for their project.

Begin using Live Chat in 3 simple steps:

1. In your Admin Panel, go to the newly added "Add-Ons" section on the left side of your page. In this new section you'll see a tab that says "Chat With Customers" -- click on that tab.

2. Click on the Olark image to sign up for a new account  ( or just click here to get started now ) - you will be taken to Olark's site to complete this step. Select your Olark plan, complete your registration process, and then look for your "Site ID" number. You can find your Site ID within your Olark.com account settings. One quick note here: You don't need to copy and paste any code into your site. We have handled that part and all we need is your Site ID and your Live Chat module will instantly appear.

3. Go back to your Live Chat page in the Admin Panel on your SourceAudio site and paste your Site ID number into the Site ID field at the bottom of the page. Click "Finish", refresh the page,  and voila, you now have Live Chat enabled on your site!
